There is an open research associate position to fill at the laboratory for Cognitive and Experimental Psychology at RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany. Salary will be according to TVL-13; 65% (gross annual salary ranging between 32.000-36.000 Euro). The position is limited to three years, starting in January or February 2020, and is intended for candidates seeking a PhD.
The position is linked to a collaborative project entitled “Cognitive control of auditory attention: Examining flexible preparatory ‘tuning’ to a speaker in a multitalker set-up”, led by Prof. Dr. Iring Koch in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Aureliu Lavric, University of Exeter, UK. The position is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The successful candidate will be required to work on the aforementioned research project, in tasks ranging from the design and implementation of testing protocols, to the collection and analysis of empirical data, to the writing of original research articles published in peer-reviewed international journals. The project will focus on behavioral data but will also include EEG experiments under supervision of Prof. Lavric in Aachen. In addition, the position requires the regular participation in internal colloquiums with international guests as well as the participation in international scientific conferences.
Candidates should have completed a Master’s degree in Psychology as well as expertise in experimental psychology and interest in cognitive psychology. We expect good knowledge of statistics and excellent command of English. Experience developing experimental paradigms (e.g. in E-Prime or PsychoPy or PsychToolbox, or another interface) and computer programming experience are not mandatory, but would be helpful. German is not mandatory but would be useful.
