First Meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Judgment and Decision Making Studies (SEJyD), July 12 -13, 2016

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I am delighted to invite you to attend and to contribute to the First Meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Judgment and Decision Making Studies (SEJyD), taking place on July 12 -13, 2016. The conference will be held in Palma (Mallorca, Spain), at the CaixaForum Gran Hotel, one of the most spectacular examples of modernist architecture in Mallorca, located in the historical town center.

Our scientific program includes lectures by Martin Skov (SEPEX Inaugural Plenary Lecture), Konstantinos Katsikopoulos, Wandi Bruine de Bruin, and Todd Hare, one workshop, one panel discussion, 6 spoken paper sessions, and two poster sessions. The breadth of topics in the conference intends to reflect the breadth of contemporary judgment and decision making studies. These have addressed issues in the domains of aesthetics, morals, sport sciences, consumer behaviour, and the neural foundations of judgment and decision making, among others.

Please, remember that, both for oral and poster presentations, the abstracts submission deadline is March 31, 2016. Abstracts have to be sended by means of the Online Submission System. See extended information here.

This conference aspires to embody the main mission of the SEJyD: to promote, encourage and facilitate judgment and decision-making studies by creating platforms for sharing common interests, tutoring of young researchers, and developing interdisciplinary collaborations and joint research projects. Furthermore, as the First of the SEJyD’s Meetings, we are aware that we face the challenge of initiating a series of regular events where researchers can exchange ideas, discover novel opportunities, reacquaint with colleagues, make new friends, and broaden their horizons.

As a conference chair of the SEJyD Meeting 2016, I realize that the success of the conference owes the many people who have worked in planning and organizing the scientific program and supporting local arrangements. Thus, we would like to thank the Scientific Committee for their thorough work on the organization of the program. Needless to say, we extend our sincere appreciation to the SEPEX and other sponsors, without whom the meeting would not be possible. Recognition should also go to the Local Organizing Committee members, who have all worked extremely hard on crucial aspects of the conference programs and social activities, most of which go unnoticed when conferences run smoothly.

I hope that you will join us in what promises to be an extraordinary event!
