The University of Valladolid (Uva) offers a vacant position for a Ph.D. student within the Auditory, Language, and Sound Perception Laboratory (ALES Lab) at the Department of Psychology, School of Education, of the University of ValladolidSegovia Campus.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Applicants are invited to apply for a 4-year full-time Ph.D. fellowship co-funded by the University of Valladolid and Banco Santander. The successful candidate will join the Department of Psychology and the School of Education at the University of Valladolid-Segovia Campus. The selected candidate will join the project “Language learning and executive function in children with hearing loss (RYC2023-042856-I),” funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación/ Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades. The purpose of this project is to investigate the impact of hearing loss on oral language learning and to identify effective language teaching strategies for children with hearing loss, including bilingual children. The selected candidate will develop an independent dissertation within these lines of research after supervisor’s approval:
-Language perception and processing
-Language learning and executive function in children with hearing loss, children with language difficulties, and/or bilingual children
-Evidence-based practices for language and early literacy intervention
REQUIREMENTS Essential:
-Bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, speech and language pathology, audiology, linguistics, teaching, or related areas
-High proficiency in Spanish and English
-Good organizational and oral/written communication skills
-Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
REQUIREMENTS Desirable:
-Experience working with children with disabilities
-Previous experience with programming and statistical analyses (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, etc.)
-Previous experience with neuroscience equipment for data collection (eye tracking, EEG, etc.)
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Based at the University of Valladolid-Segovia Campus (25 minutes away from Madrid by high-speed train; a hybrid position can be considered)
Full-time position for 4 years
Starting date: Early 2026 (approx.)
The student will have the opportunity to complete a visiting research stay abroad to expand scientific training as well as on-site teaching training (up to 30 hours)
