Postdoc Opportunity CIMeC UniTrento: Cognitive Neuroscience, Memory, Conceptual Knowledge & Cognitive maps

Os reenviamos un mensaje sobre una oferta postdoctoral en el Center for Mind/Brain Sciences (CIMeC) – University of Trento (Italia).

La Junta Directiva de la SEPEX

Are you interested in memory, spatial or conceptual navigation, and the structure of knowledge in both human brains and machines? Are you an expert in neuroimaging, machine learning, or computational linguistics? Look no further – an exciting postdoctoral position awaits you in our team at the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences (CIMeC), University of Trento.

Starting in the fall or early 2024, we are seeking exceptional individuals to join our cutting edge research group. Our group is interested in discovering the information structure of declarative knowledge, focusing on cognitive maps and the interplay between high and low dimensional information in the mind and brain.

To get a glimpse of our recent scientific contributions, we invite you to check out our latest publications and preprints at http://www.bottinilab.com/publications. For a theoretical overview of our research, we recommend our paper titled «Knowledge across reference frames: Cognitive maps and image spaces» published in Trends in Cognitive Sciences (Vol. 24, Issue 8, pp. 606-619).

In our quest for knowledge, we employ an array of advanced neuroimaging techniques including fMRI, MEG, and Intracranial EEG. We complement these techniques with tools derived from machine learning, computational linguistics, and eye-tracking to ensure our research is at the forefront of interdisciplinary innovation.

As a member of our team, you will benefit from outstanding and easily accessible research facilities. CIMeC is renowned for its state-of-the-art resources, including a 3T Prisma MRI and a dedicated MEG, both exclusively reserved for research purposes. Furthermore, we have established collaborative partnerships with the Niguarda Hospital in Milan for data collection and analysis of intracranial EEG data from epileptic patients. Moreover, we enjoy fruitful scientific collaborations with prestigious institutes in Italy, Europe, and the United States, enriching the interdisciplinary nature of our work. The University of Trento, nestled in the picturesque region of Trentino in Northern Italy, offers an exquisite backdrop for your research journey. With breathtaking natural landscapes comprising mountains, lakes, and forests, you can immerse yourself in nature’s beauty all year round. Additionally, Trento and Rovereto, the charming neighboring towns, provide exceptional living standards and affordable accommodations, ensuring a well balanced and comfortable lifestyle. If you are captivated by our research projects and eager to contribute, we encourage you to take the first step by reaching out to us.
