The Psychology PhD Program at Universidad del Atlántico Medio is currently accepting applications for PhD positions, including three fully funded scholarships.
Universidad del Atlántico Medio is a research-oriented private university with a strong commitment to scientific excellence and advanced research training. The university provides outstanding research infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment, including fNIRS, EEG, and non-invasive brain stimulation facilities.

Research areas
The PhD program offers training and supervision in two main research lines:
1) Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience
2) Health Psychology
Research topics
- Applicants are especially encouraged to apply if they are interested in one or more of the following topics:
- Lifespan development of learning, implicit cognition, and predictive processes
- The effects of meditation and mind wandering on learning and predictive processes
- Effect of music on learning and implicit cognition
- Biopsychosocial and socio-ecological determinants of health behavior and behavioral addictions: investigation of measurement and intervention approaches
- Health psychological impacts of climate change: examining mental health, health behavior, and mechanisms of psychological adaptation
- Psychometric investigation of health and clinical psychology constructs: with a focus on scale development, validity, and reliability
Available positions
The doctoral school offers:
- 3 fully funded PhD positions with a scholarship of approximately €1,500 net per month
- Additional PhD positions without scholarship (Applicants may apply for a tuition waiver.)
Candidate profile
Ideal applicants would meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology
- Master’s degree in Psychology or related fields (e.g., Neuroscience, Bioengineering, Cognitive Science)
- Good level of English
- High-level knowledge of Spanish is an advantage
- Strong methodological skills (e.g., statistics, programming) are an advantage
Required application documents
Candidates must submit the following:
- Degree certificates: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Psychology or related fields (Applicants who have not yet received their Master’s degree by May 15 may still apply, provided that they submit the diploma as soon as it becomes available).
- Academic transcripts, including the duration of the programs in academic years, courses completed, credits obtained, and grades received
- Motivation letter (maximum 800–1000 words), describing your academic background, the research line you are applying for, and the research goals you would like to pursue
- Curriculum vitae
- Proof of language proficiency
